White pine blister rust

A non-native disease affecting five-needled pines including sugar pine and also shrubs in the genus Ribes (alternate host). Extensive prevention and control efforts in the 1930s focused on eradication of Ribes bushes.

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of many affected by the white pine blister rust.
