Wild and Scenic River
A river receiving special protection under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968. The act is regularly amended to include additional areas under protection. For example, in June of 2012, legislators in Washington State introduced the Wild Olympics Wilderness and Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 2012. This amends the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act to designate as wild, scenic, or recreational rivers specified segments of the following rivers in the state of Washington: Elwha River, Dungeness River, Big Quilcene River, Dosewallips River, Duckabush River, Queets River, Hoh River and several more.
The Hoh River - a newly designated Wild and Scenic River in Olympic National Park.
